That's true, GL, but the point some of us are trying to make is that Catholicism isn't about faith; it's about arbitrary rules.
Say what you want about organized religion but this quote does ring true:
"A nation without Faith is like a ship without a rudder..."

It's also about money Gae. Don't forget the money!
Cathloicism may be many things but they are primarily about the money! SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!
All things in the "Church" can be bought with enough of the Benjamins!!
Trav said "As far as I know, there isn?t an organized religion that dose not place the church (or any other man made organization) between the person and the recognized God of that religion."
Basically true, but not 100%. I went to a Quaker church for 10 years. They place total emphasis on the individual's inner experience of God, seeking Light. Many congregations sit in silence for extended periods of time seeking inner Guidance or Wisdom. Some Quaker congregations are "unprogrammed", meaning they have no set order of events, no rituals, and do not even have a minister.
Buddhism is another counter-example.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I was just about to post to that effect when I saw you said it at the bottom. Buddhism actually has 2 schools of practice: Higher Vehicle and Lesser Vehicle to reach "Nirvana". Higher Vehicle is renouncing worldy pursuits to teach ad convert others. "Lesser Vehicle" is the more personal and individual approach to the belief system which is what I follow myself.Originally posted by LanDroid:

While I do not subscribe fully to any organized religion, Christianity, while committing atrocities of its own over the centuries, has also been one of the civilizing forces on humanity.Originally posted by gae:

Subject to change quickly since it is a news site that puts the newest stuff at the top, but currently at the Top at Sploid is the headline: Pope Still Dead: Gawkers Agape
Make of it what you will.
